With a strong appreciation and keenness for polo and the founder of Thailand Polo Association, King Power Group Chairman Mr. Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha set up the King Power Polo Team with the aim of developing the standard of polo sport in Thailand. He was determined to put Thailand on the map as a centre for developing polo players to professional level. He has been a driving force in ushering Thai polo competitions to international tournaments.
King Power Polo Team was highly recognised and chosen to compete in the 24th SEA Games held in Thailand in 2007. It was the Team’s first international competition. The achievements of the King Power Polo Team in other important competitions and events include:
• The 2nd Polo on Elephants for a trophy bestowed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand at Somdej Phra Suriyothai Military Camp in Hua Hin District, Prachuab Kirikhan Province
• The Child Line Charity Polo Tournament at HAM Polo Club, United Kingdom
• The Chakravarty Cup, a charity polo tournament, at HAM Polo Club, United Kingdom
• The King Power Gold Cup at VR Sports Club and Siam Polo Park
• The B. Grimm Polo Cup at Siam Polo Park in Pattaya, Chonburi Province
• The Thai Polo League at VR Sports Club and Siam Polo Park
• The Songkran Cup at VR Sports Club and Siam Polo Park
• The Midnight Polo at VR Sports Club and Siam Polo Park
